Travel South America;we make our way to the Sun Gate walking on the same stone paths that the Incans walked on 700 years ago…

Look where we\'ve come from

Whilst sitting on one of the many terraces at Winay Wayna, we have time to look down at the Urumbamba River flowing, which is way down below us, across at mountain face where the trail we have journeyed on is just a faint line, then we look around us at these incredible ruins and wonder how they built this with so much precision so long ago.

We have time to reflect and contemplate what we have achieved over these past four days, really appreciating the incredible feat of the Inca, and knowing that we have lived our dream of trekking the Inca Trail.  With these thoughts and humility we gather our packs and get ready to tackle the final part of our journey to the Sun Gate…

Excitement is building in each of us, as we anxiously count down the hours to see what we have trekked four days for…

Steep steps ahead

We are now organized and ready to go… guess what more STEPS ahead of us, with the beautiful scenery that we encounter and the adrenalin starting to build; we realize that the steps are just a way to get to our final destination, which is like any journey we undertake in our lives.

To achieve our end result we have to overcome obstacles that seem a little difficult to overcome (we think) at the time, until we understand that the end result is far greater than the pain we have to endure.

Each step is one closer to our destination

As we walk on these steps, our guide will remind us that these stone paths and steps are the same stone paths and steps that the Inca’s walked on 700 years ago… AMAZING!!!

Excitement is now really starting to build; we will have a sense that we are getting closer as we arrive at Intipata, which means the Sun Gate, we have trekked for eight hours so we know we are nearly there, our guide will contain our excitement and keep us in suspense….

Just like I am going to…

We will be achieving our dream of seeing Machu Picchu soon…
